If you are a full-time student attending a college outside your precinct
but within the County; attending an out-of-the-county college; or a voter
who will be absent for any other reason on election day, including age
or long term illness, you may vote by absentee ballot.
It is suggested that you write or call the Board of Elections at least
45 days before an election and request an application for an absentee
ballot or send a letter stating your name and address as it appears on
your voter registration records, your reason for requesting a absentee
ballot, and an address where you wish the ballot sent.
A REQUEST TO MAIL AN ABSENTEE BALLOT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED BY THE ELECTION
OFFICE LATER THAN (7) DAYS BEFORE AN ELECTION. Your voted ballot must
be received in the Election Office NOT LATER THAN 8:00 p.m. on Election
Day.
After the Tuesday preceding an election and election day prior to the
time the polls close, any person registered and otherwise qualified to
vote may apply, IN PERSON OR THROUGH A DULY AUTHORIZED AGENT, for a late
absentee ballot. Call 301-952-3273 to inquire whether or not you qualify
for a late absentee ballot.
You may access the State Board's web site at www.elections.state.md.us/voters/absentee_ballot.html
